First Job, New Career; Your "New" Office Must-Haves

I just got an SOS  text from my daughter- she was setting up her work desk in her new cubicle, in her career. Along with the thrill of the new job, she needed to quickly assemble a workable space where she didn’t have to search or borrow.

I never considered the necessary supplies one might need for a cubicle- it seems so automatic to me. Let me share the list I compiled, along with my new favorite pens. I must admit I have a weakness for particular writing instruments.

Here we go:

  • pens (My new favorite: pilot friXion erasable gel pen- get black, red and blue set. These Pilot Frixion Point gel pens are super- extra fine points are my go, too. Let them dry a bit after writing and they are erasable- too cool. Available at Staples and Amazon.)

  • pencil, small sharpener, eraser

  • highlighter

  • white out tape runner

  • paper- white ruled pads are good. just get letter size

  • pushpins/ thumbtacks

  • variety of bull clips

  • planner/calendar on wall, or desk

  • post its

  • scotch tape

  • scissors

  • ruler 12 inch is fine, just good to have a straight edge

  • rubber bands

  • paper clips

  • Sharpies, 1 black fine point, 1 black extra fine point

  • Adhesive file folder labels- to recycle/ reuse those once and done manilla files

  • P- touch labeler, some folks swear by it, if writing is illegible

  • pencil cup if you do not have a drawer to lock in

And with the mandatory file drawers, you will need:

  • file folders – look and see size in file cabinet letter or legal-get plain manilla ones- will use many

  • command hooks for your cubicle, depends upon wall material

  • pendaflex to hang your file folders

  • small white board to hang, markers, eraser

  • desk sorter

FOR YOUR LIFE, FOR YOUR FAMILY, FOR YOUR HOME, BOTH INSIDE & OUT, LET’S GO!
